How Porcelain Veneers Work
Our highly-trained cosmetic dentists in our Springfield, Longmeadow and Wilbraham locations draw on their years of experience to fashion veneers of the right size, shape and color for your smile. Artistry comes into play as our dentists analyze your facial shape, skin tone and existing teeth to determine how best to enhance your smile.
In preparing a tooth to receive porcelain veneers, your cosmetic dentist will remove a small amount of enamel to make room for the veneer. Digital photos and an impression are taken so the right size, shape and color of ceramic shell can be custom created in a dental laboratory.
You will have a second visit when your veneers arrive at our office. Your dentist will attach them temporarily for you to look at and to make sure they fit properly with your bite and your smile. If everything is satisfactory, they are permanently bonded to the teeth.
At Baystate Dental, we plan to have CEREC technology in the near future. That is a porcelain milling system we will use to design your tooth crowns and porcelain dental inlays and onlays and to create them onsite. That will mean you need only come for one visit, since no dental lab will be necessary.
