My story begins at the age of 4 when I first began having problems with my teeth, cavity after cavity, tooth pulled after tooth pulled, not a single dentist appointment or check-up passed without more work needing to be done, despite my efforts to care for my teeth.

Unfortunately, all of my past dental experiences were negative, receptionists would make comments to me such as, “You’re back again?” or “Don’t you take care of your teeth?” and eventually dentists would mention I should try to find a new dentist, each giving up on me and my smile, making me feel ashamed of myself.

Then I found Baystate Dental. Since coming here I’ve learned to accept my smile and need for frequent treatment. Each time I come in for an appointment, Judy or Rick greet me with the warmest of smiles and always take excellent care of me. As for Dr. Cioccia, he is by far the BEST dentist I have ever had! Dr. Cioccia explains things in a way that helps me understand what the problem is and what I can do to help it, without making me feel like I’ve done something wrong.

In sum, Baystate Dental has given me the confidence in myself to seek treatment without shame and provided me with constant encouragement to come back, fully dressed with my smile, in order to make my smile the best it can be.

I first came to Baystate Dental after a very long period of having a very uncared for set of teeth. I had numerous cavities and needed two root canals! Being the lucky duck that I am, the work was started right away, the very same day I came for a consult. I have had fillings, root canals, crowns, pulled teeth and even an implant! But I can finally smile now without any broken teeth. It is a great feeling to go for my cleaning and not need anything else! And the large amount of fear I used to have about even walking into the office is gone. I have recently started going to the Belchertown office. Every book on performing magic suggests that you cannot mystify an audience without first getting them to like you. I have learned over my years of performing that the quickest way to gain anyone's trust and attention is with a smile. A smile hints at playfulness and tells the audience that while I might be lying and cheating, it's all in good fun. A smile reassures the audience that I am a capable performer. A well-timed smile can also misdirect an audience better than any joke because a smile tends to draw attention.

When I take the stage and smile out from the footlights at a room full of people, I am showing off the results of my lifelong affiliation with Baystate Dental PC. I have succeeded as a magician because of the smile they helped me achieve. Without their help, my life would literally not be the same.

"You're never fully dressed without a smile" is now something I am proud to agree with! I never liked my smile, not even as a kid. After I had kids I decided I would find a new dentist for us. I wanted to find a dentist the kids and I would be comfortable with. I always had anxiety going to the dentist and wanted a place that would not give that feeling to the kids. I am happy to say I have done that! The receptionist made a great first impression. We met Dr. Haluch and I couldn't have been happier; he was great with the kids and made them feel at ease.

I was still nervous but that feeling went away quickly. I think the whole staff of Baystate Dental is amazing!  They always make me feel at ease. I needed work done on all of my upper teeth. Dr. Haluch talked me through all of it and made me feel very comfortable; and when it came to getting all of it done, he did an amazing job! I am thrilled with my new smile and I am happy to show it! I have gotten so many compliments, now I think my smile is one of my best accessories. I really can't say “thank you” enough to everyone there but what I can say is I am a proud patient of Baystate Dental and always will be.

From my very first phone call, the front desk staff has made me feel "at home." They are welcoming, friendly, and I am greeted by name and with a smile every time. The office is organized, the waiting room is spotless, and the exam rooms are beautiful and filled with state-of-the-art equipment.

My initial visit was for a cleaning and to meet my new dentist, Dr. Doe. He and his clinical support staff were extremely professional, pleasant and friendly. I received the most thorough exam I have ever had.

I felt so comfortable, relaxed and confident that I could trust them with my dental care; we made a plan to fix my “choppers.” I have been in several times to work on some old nagging dental issues that were cosmetically unpleasant and made me feel very self-conscious about my smile.

Ultimately, Dr. Doe has transformed my “self-conscious smile” into one that I am truly proud of. People notice the change in the appearance of my teeth, but more than that, they see the confidence that the change has given me. I finally feel “fully dressed” with my beautiful new smile.

Although I can’t say I look forward to going to the dentist, my visits to Baystate Dental are comfortable and pleasant. From the moment I walk through the door, I feel relaxed. The waiting room is small and never busy and I am greeted right away with a smile. While I wait, I can browse through a magazine or watch a curious video of a monkey cleaning his teeth. This makes me smile.

After a short wait comes my favorite part of each visit – Jeannie. Jeannie is an ideal dental hygienist. She has this happy and bubbly persona that is simply contagious. Her smile alone is an instant mood-booster. I can’t help but smile back. Jeannie is easygoing and makes me feel comfortable from the moment she calls my name, to the time when her hands are in my mouth with some scary pick, probe or scaler. I try to take good care of my teeth but I admit that sometimes I forget to floss. During my cleanings, Jeannie doesn’t lecture me about flossing. We all know I should floss. Instead, Jeannie compliments me on what I have done well. Instead of feeling guilty, I walk away feeling good and motivated to take better care of my teeth.

My smile is not perfect, but I can honestly say that I am happy to have found Jeannie, Dr. Cioccia and the other caring and dedicated staff at Baystate Dental’s Longmeadow office to help me in achieving my best smile.

I have been a police officer for fourteen years. Each day I go to work I get dressed with the tools that I have trained with to do my job. Whether it be handcuffs or my gun, I dress for work with a litany of devices to combat crime and keep the peace. Until recently, I never had the one tool I would use the most – my smile. I was always self-conscious about the way my teeth looked and would rarely smile. I never realized how much something as simple as a smile could diffuse a tense situation, or give someone that moment of reassurance that everything will be alright.
