Zygomatic Implant Training

Springfield, Holyoke, Longmeadow, and Wilbraham, MA

Implant dentists from Springfield, MA Dr. Kevin Coughlin and Dr. Gary Circosta completed a zygomatic implant training in Quebec, Canada from Feb. 21--24, 2011. The intense training resulted in new technologies that can be incorporated in providing patients missing most or all of their teeth with fixed prostheses supported by dental implants in a straight-forward procedure, requiring less overall time, and increased esthetics, function and comfort. The Baystate Dental PC mission is to allow partially or completely edentulous patients to eat and smile with confidence. Unlike traditional techniques which require bone grafts routinely, this new technology only uses bone grafts in certain special cases where there are no viable alternatives.

The use of a variety of dental implants, including traditional implants, tilted implants, and zygomatic implants allows our approach to be less invasive and less traumatic for patients. This is especially true in the difficult to restore upper arch. These implants, coupled with the placement of a Marius Bridge delivers a finished product without compromising esthetics, speech, maintenance, or comfort.

Re-construction of the lower jaw is also usually completed without the need for a bone graft. The most utilized procedure, and the one that provides the closest result to natural teeth is the fixed bridge attached to 4-6 implants.

Patients are encouraged to contact Drs. Coughlin and Circosta for an evaluation to discuss their specific treatment recommendations.
